Fèis an Earraich was established in 1989, the third of its kind in Scotland. It followed the model of Fèis Bharraigh on the Isle of Barra, which was originally established to teach children about their local traditions, music, language and culture. There are Fèisean all over Scotland today, with their focus on teaching skills in the Gaelic arts. During our main Easter week, classes are offered to pupils in P4-S6 in; clàrsach, fiddle, chanter and piping, Gaelic song, Gaelic drama, whistle, accordion, art, stepdance, pipe band drumming, percussion, cèilidh dance, shinty, guitar and groupwork. In 2020 we are extending this list to offer classes in keyboard and Highland dance as well. All abilities are welcome, whether you have been playing/singing/dancing for years or just want to come and have a go! Our experienced tutors deliver a very high standard of tuition and many are professional musicians. We have a strong focus on the Gaelic language and where participants are Gaelic speakers we hope to offer their tuition through the medium of Gaelic wherever possible.
