Rick Taylor is a composer, musician, producer who left London for the Isle of Skye in 2002 and has never looked back.
Rick runs his own record label FOTS Records, home to among others Angus Nicolson Trio, VENT52, Alana MacInnes and Paul McCallum and Kristen Macbeth.
Rick’s studio “Rescueroom” is the recording side of FOTS and has a diverse and exciting catalogue including work for Elephant Sessions, Film work for RSPB, various schools projects and a comission for The Canadian Air Force!
Rick is an inspirational teacher, leading Ensembles for National Youth Jazz Orchestra of Scotland, Sage Gateshead, Birmingham Conservatoire, Blazin’ in Beauly and this year running his own Ensemble Week on Skye – a unique opportunity for players of all levels and disciplines to come together and create the kind of thrilling music only a large ensemble can truly produce, led by one of the ‘Worlds Greatest Ensemble Leaders’.
Before moving to Skye, Rick spent many years as a Jazz Trombonist and composer playing with all the greats including Gill Evans, George Russell, John Surman, Mike Gibbbs and Michael Reissler to name a few and his venture into the pop industry includes albums with George Michael, Elton John, Jamiriqui and many more.
