EMS are inviting Scottish based chamber music ensembles to perform in National Chamber Music Day, a one day event which celebrates chamber music across the country.
On the 16th of September, EMS will host National Chamber Music Day 2017 the event which promotes chamber music throughout Scotland!
We’ll be filling the streets with the sound of chamber music by putting on free, impromptu concerts for members of the public across the country.
As well as our usual celebrations, this year National Chamber Music Day is going green! We’ll be exploring the role music has to play in raising awareness of environmental issues including sustainability, conservation and carbon footprint. There’ll be “no cars allowed” with musicians travelling to performances via environmentally friendly modes of transport: train, tram, bike, bus, boat, skateboard…the possibilities are endless!
All Scottish based chamber music ensembles are invited to perform for this one day event. Like in previous year’s, each ensemble will be asked to give a short performance (no more than an hour) in two venues throughout the day. Each musician will be paid a fee of £150 and can claim for travel expenses agreed upon in advance.
