Hit The Road is a national youth music touring project offering young musicians living in Scotland, between the ages of 14-19 years old, the opportunity to learn about the live industry before embarking on a professionally managed tour.
The initiative aims to equip young artists and non-musicians with the up-to-date knowledge, contacts and tools required to work within the modern live sector and is funded by Creative Scotland’s Youth Music Initiative (YMI) and PRS For Music Foundation.
The initiative has acted as a key stepping-stone in the development of some of Scotland’s most promising young artists, including; KLOE, Model Aeroplanes, JR Green, Indigo Velvet, Man of Moon, Be Charlotte and is now OPEN for applications for 2017.
Hit The Road supports aspiring young performers at an early stage. Through a series of workshops and masterclasses with music industry professionals, the project develops the artists’ understanding of the modern live sector, before embarking on a professionally managed tour across Scotland.
There are also opportunities for young people to gain hands-on-experience in a real life environment by shadowing sound engineers, stage managers, photographers and other personnel working in the live music industry.
