From Perthshire, Patsy Reid is a Scottish musician, composer and teacher.
Having been given her first teaching break at the legendary Taransay Fiddle Camp back in 2002, she has been in demand as a guest tutor ever since.
Known for getting down to the technical nitty gritty, Patsy combines her experience as a busy fiddle/viola player with her classical training to provide in depth and practical tuition, aimed at those who really want to improve their sound, style and confidence.
Participants will explore the following –
- Connecting with the bow and articulation
- Stylistic fluency
- Groove & rhythm, accompaniment and supporting theory
All of the above will be delivered via a selection of great Scottish melodies, incorporating workshops, 1-1s and a variety of jam sessions.
The course will be suitable for intermediate to advanced fiddle and viola players. Repertoire will be taught by ear, with sheet music and relevant notes available at the end of the week or by request.
Patsy is a trained string and classroom teacher and her qualifications include a 1st Class Honours Degree in Applied Music, a Post Graduate Diploma in Violin Performance and a Post Graduate Certificate of Education with Specialist Strings, both from the Royal Northern College of Music.
