Fèis Rois Oigridh – the Junior Fèis is a residential week for young people in P4 to S1, full of music, song, dance, and most importantly, fun for all participants! As always, the Fèis takes place in Ullapool and is packed with classes and evening activities such as sessions, the tutors concert, sports and crafts and a good old Highland ceilidh. The week culminates with the participants’ concert in the Macphail Centre which gives students the chance to show off what they have learned to friends and family.
Fèis Rois events are fun and friendly. We want to help you improve your playing, grow in confidence and learn more about the Gaelic language and culture.
The next Junior Fèis takes place in Ullapool from Monday 2nd – Friday 6th April 2017.
Beginners are very welcome at all of our events, and those who already play an instrument or sing will also find the experience very rewarding. We aim to cater for all abilities, right up to accomplished musicians and singers. You don’t need to be able to read music and you don’t need to have any previous knowledge of traditional music to enjoy a Fèis. Workshops are taught by ear with participants learning tunes and songs a phrase at a time. Tutors will give you the sheet music to take home.
